Sandra Bullock And Daniel Radcliffe On The Celebrities They Regularly Get Mistaken For

Sandra Bullock and Daniel Radcliffe might be two of the most well-known actors in Hollywood, but it appears they’re not immune to cases of mistaken identity.

During a recent game of Knowing Me, Knowing You with ELLE UK ahead of the release of the pair’s new film The Lost City, the duo opened up about the celebrities they’re commonly confused with.

‘This guy came up to me in the gym and didn’t even say “You’re Elijah Wood from Lord of The Rings”, he just went "You’re Frodo from The Shire?”. Not even “Lord Of The Rings” but “The Shire”, like it’s a real place. And I was like “No mate, I get it a lot”…’ Radcliffe said on being confused for Wood.

Meanwhile, Bullock has used fan confusion to her advantage, and even went as far as to getting out of a traffic ticket once when a police officer mistook her for Julia Roberts.

‘I got out of a traffic ticket from someone thinking I was Julia Roberts. My dad was in the car and it was at night and the guy goes “You’re Julia Roberts, aren’t you?” And I said “Will that get me out of the ticket?” And he said “Yes, it will”. And I said “Then yes I am”. So I signed something on behalf of Julia. Sorry,’ she added.

The pair, who star alongside the likes of Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum in their hit action comedy, also touched on the biggest transformations they’ve undergone for a role. While Radcliffe enjoyed having devil horns attached to his head for his role in the 2013 triller Horns, Bullock said that her experience involved some rather complex dental work.

‘I had these teeth bonded on my front teeth and then the pandemic hit,’ she said of her role in the 2021 film The Unforgivable. ‘So I had the teeth on for a good two years and they moved my teeth.’

As for trips to the dentist, Bullock was correct in guessing that Pitt – with whom she shares a dentist – had his teeth purposefully chipped for his role in Fight Club, much to Radcliffe’s dismay.

Elsewhere, the actors discussed their love/hate relationship with musicals. ‘I don’t like watching and being in them… I like good ones,’ said Bullock, noting that Hamilton is, by far, her favourite. ‘I don’t care who is in the role, it’s so moving.’

As for Radcliffe, who will soon star in the Broadway revival of Merrily We Roll Along, his favourite musical is The Book of Mormon. ‘It’s the happiest I’ve ever been in the theatre,’ he noted.

From Radcliffe correctly guessing himself as the answer to ‘who had a lock of their hair auctioned off for charity?’ (‘there’s some weird stuff out there’) to Bullock opening up about receiving truffles and champagne from her Speed co-star Keanu Reeves (‘I painted his nails and sent him on a date ('it was incredibly sweet’) the stars are giving future Knowing Me, Knowing You players some stiff competition.
