Schitt's Creek star Sarah Levy has given birth to her first child.

Sarah rose to fame playing waitress Twyla on the hugely popular Canadian sitcom alongside her father and brother, the co-creators and leads Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose) and Dan Levy ( David Rose). While Annie Murphy played their screen daughter and sister Alexis.

Sarah announced her baby news on social media in a post on Tuesday (July 5).

Sharing a picture of her adorable newborn's foot, she wrote: "He decided to make an early entrance but we are so glad sweet James Eugene Outerbridge is in the world."

We love the sweet nod to father Eugene with the middle name choice.

James is Sarah's first child with her husband Graham Outerbridge. The couple tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony last autumn.

The actress confirmed their marriage after three years together by sharing a strip of photos of the pair on Instagram, posing together in a photobooth.

"Bells are ringing 10.16.2021," she wrote.

Sarah played waitress Twyla Sands in Schitt's Creek throughout its run. She previously revealed Twyla was originally very different in the pilot presentation, where she was a "sort of a sad and depressing character".

"I actually had nothing to do with the evolution of what that character turned into," Sarah told BuzzFeed.

"When I first read the pilot of Schitt's Creek, as we know it now, Twyla became a different type of character, and I was really grateful for that.

"Although it was really fun playing the old version of Twyla as well – just this unhinged and on-the-verge-of-tears-at-all-times character – I think they luckily saw her going in a bit of a different direction."

Sarah added that she never asked the writers why they decided to change Twyla after the pilot – but intended to find out why.

Schitt's Creek is available to watch on Netflix.
