The Shows Must Go On series: The Sound of Music Live to be streamed online for free
The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood as Maria will stream online this Friday.
The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic, which first aired live as a television special in 2013 on NBC, will be streamed on the YouTube channel, The Shows Must Go On.
The channel has hosted six of Andrew Lloyd Webber's previous musicals – finishing with Cats, of course – and will continue to run with new shows for audiences to enjoy at home.
The Sound of Music Live will be available to watch from Friday May 22 at 7pm for 48 hours.
Grammy Award-winning country singer Underwood starred alongside True Blood actor Stephen Moyer as Captain von Trapp in the 1959 musical.
Broadway legends also made appearances, with Audra McDonald playing Mother Abbess and Laura Bentati as the baroness Elsa Schräder.
The story follows a young nun who leaves the abbey to take up a position of governess to the seven children of a strict Austrian captain.
This isn't to be confused with 2015's The Sound of Music Live, which saw Kara Tointon and Julian Ovenden star as Maria and the Captain.
Lloyd Webber’s The Shows Must Go On series included streams of the Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Love Never Dies, By Jeeves and Cats. The composer said the streams had raised more than half a million dollars for acting charities.
