Twitter Is Having A Field Day Over The M&Ms Characters' Makeovers

If you’ve been on social media recently (which of course you have – it’s 2022 not 1922…), you may have seen that a topic of conversation has been the new M&Ms. But before you get all excited – we don’t mean there’s a new flavour in town. The bosses at Mars (the company that produces our favourite hard-shelled chocolates Sorry, Snarties…) have decided to give the M&Ms characters a little makeover to make them more inclusive.

“Studies show our desire to belong is as strong as our desire to be loved, and that desire is common for all people irrespective of culture, race, ethnicity, geography, or location,” the brand said in a press release.

“M&M’s used this insight to create the M&M’s FUNd to track the brand’s impact on our mission, which will offer resources, mentorship, opportunities and financial support in the arts and entertainment space to help ensure people have access to experiences where everyone feels they belong.”

That’s all great and everything, but the fact that they’ve taken away Green M&M’s heels has everyone on Twitter creasing up. Instead of wearing her signature knee-high heeled boots, the green character sports a pair of trainers that showcase her “effortless confidence”.

We’re all for that, btw, but the Twitter responses are really cracking us up.

Other changes to the characters include Red being “nicer” to his friends and anxious Orange “embracing his true self”.
