2017 was supposed to be an incredible year for Spice Girls fans. But that's all changed now. Soz.

This year was going to be the year the Spice Girls reunited, and made all our dreams come true. But Victoria Beckham is reportedly taking legal action to stop her former bandmates performing any of their old hits. Which is a bit rubbish.

An insider told The Sun that the girls involved - Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel B aka GEM - were "devastated" at Victoria's decision to stop them performing any of the tracks that she co-wrote during her time in the band.

"Victoria was a huge part of their lives and now she is using lawyers to block their comeback. Victoria is proud of her Spice Girls history but this suggests she wants to cut all links with the group which transformed her life.

"She is resorting to aggressive legal letters and it is an extremely sad way for things to end after all they have been through together."

Last year, VB admitted that hearing the ladies singing Spice Girls songs would be "a bit sad" for her.

She claimed: "They should sing their own material though, because what we did in the Spice Girls was so special. If they sang Spice Girls songs I think I might be a bit sad."

What with this and pregnant Geri's decision to step away from the project for a while to concentrate on her family, things seem to be falling apart.

A source told The Metro: "Geri's priorities have changed. Her baby is due later this year and rather than force a reunion, she needs to concentrate on more personal matters.

"Getting all the girls in the studio at the same time proved a tough task. What they needed was one main boss-style figure to pull the strings otherwise they would constantly be in limbo."

I'll just put my platforms back in storage for now then…
