Zac Efron responds to plastic surgery rumours and says he "almost died"

Zac Efron has responded to rumours that he's had plastic surgery, after comments online pointed out a change to the shape of his face.

The actor, 34, previously revealed that an accident in 2013 caused him to shatter his jaw, resulting in his face appearing to look different, with the actor now speaking out about plastic surgery speculation.

During a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Zac laughed when asked about his thoughts on the rumours. He then revealed that his mum, Starla Baskett, was the person who first person to tell him about comments online, explaining, "My mom told me. I don't really read the internet. So, I don’t really give a f**k."

Zac was speaking alongside director Peter Farrelly to promote the pair's upcoming film The Greatest Beer Run Ever, set during the Vietnam War, with Farrelly also chipping in. He joked, "If you were going to get plastic surgery, you wouldn't get that," pointing to Zac's face, with the High School Musical actor laughing in response.

The actor went on to say, "It was funny," in response to rumours. He also briefly opened up about his jaw accident, saying, "It sucks. I almost died, but we're good."

In a previous interview with Men's Health, Zac told the publication that he'd shattered his jaw after hitting his chin on the granite corner of a fountain, which left him unconscious. He then explained that muscles in his face and jaw had grown to compensate for the injury, resulting in a difference to his look.

Elsewhere in the interview, Zac also opened up about suffering "pretty bad depression" over his body image.

We're glad Zac's set the record straight on the rumours.
