Zendaya may have disappointed fans when she recently announced that she wouldn’t be attending this year’s Met Gala, but she’s made up for it with her latest look.

On Monday, the same day as the star studded gala, the Emmy award-winning actor stepped out in Boston to show off her new light brown curly bob. Dressed in a large black puffer coat, black jogging bottoms and purple trainers, the Euphoria star looked relaxed carrying a green juice and her phone while debuting the new hair do.

The ends of the hairstyle, which is a dramatic change for the star given her recent red shoulder-length hair of late, appeared to sit just above her shoulders and beneath her chin.

Zendaya is currently filming her latest project, The Challengers, in Boston, so it’s likely the new hairstyle is for her character. However, given the way the actor loves to change up her hair and clothing, we wouldn’t be surprised if the bob was here to stay for a while.

The bob is reminiscent of the hairstyle the star wore to the 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination Costume'-themed Met Gala in 2018. At that time, the FROW regular wore her short Fifth Element-esque red-coloured bob with a short fringe and curls that skimmed her jawline.

Last month Zendaya, who has been seen enjoying the Boston sights with her boyfriend Tom Holland in recent weeks, told Extra that she wouldn’t be able to attend Monday’s Met Gala due to work.

‘Your girl's gotta work and make some movies,’ she said. ‘So I wish everyone the best. I will be playing tennis. But yeah, I’ll be back eventually…Yeah, I’ll keep delivering in other ways [on other red carpets].’

According to Screen Rant, The Challengers focuses on the story of tennis player turned coach Tashi (played by Zendaya) and her husband, Art (Mike Faist). Tashi is focussed on making Art go from a mid-level tennis player to a Gran Slam winner and makes him play a “Challenger” event during which he’s forced to play against his ex best friend and Tashi’s ex boyfriend, Patrick (Josh O'Connor).

The news outlet states that the match results in ‘old rivalries being reignited on and off the court’.
