Actor Clive Swift, who was best known for his role as long-suffering Richard Bucket in hit sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, has died aged 82. The beloved actor's agent confirmed that he died "peacefully at home" on Friday morning surrounded by his family. Clive is most famous for starring in the hugely popular BBC show Keeping Up Appearances opposite comedy legend Patricia Routledge who played his on-screen wife.The hilarious duo played their parts on all 40 of the show's episodes for five years.

Actor Clive Swift has died aged 82. The star was best known for playing Hyacinth Bucket’s long-suffering husband Richard in the classic sitcom Keeping Up Appearances. Born in Liverpool in 1936, he read English literature at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he participated in student theatre along with the likes of Derek Jacobi, Ian McKellen and the novelist Margaret Drabble, who he married in 1960.

Actor Clive Swift, known to many as the long-suffering Richard Bucket in Keeping Up Appearances, has died. Born in Liverpool on 9 February 1936, to parents who owned a furniture shop in Bootle, Swift was a classically trained actor and member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. As a member of the RSC, he earned early critical praise in William Gaskill’s revival of Cymbeline, with Vanessa Redgrave as Imogen, and later for the 1966 production of The Tempest, in which he starred as Caliban opposite
