Noises Off review, Garrick Theatre: Michael Frayn's classic farce is riotous fun
Estate agent Garry Lejeune (Daniel Rigby) is standing in a tattered suit, with a stunned look on his face. “The sardines,” he cries, “they’re gone!”. Before him on set sits a full plate of sardines. Something has gone wrong. In Michael Frayn’s brilliant meta-farce Noises Off (1982), the fourth wall is not so much broken as smashed down, along with much of the set. This is the “play gone wrong” par excellence.

Twelfth Night, National's Olivier Theatre review: Tamsin Greig shines in a production otherwise at sea
Well it ain't necessarily so: last night comic actress Tamsin Greig stepped into the breach to give us a female spin on this party-pooping steward who reaps richly deserved humiliation after being duped into believing the mistress of the house reciprocates her servant’s adoration. Greig makes the part – rechristened Malvolia - her own, wearing an attitude of a forbidding school ma'am, a joyless array of black clothing and a severe Cleopatra bob that would give a child nightmares. The letter pl

Twelfth Night, theatre review: Tamsin Grieg is brilliant in this gender-bending spin on Shakespeare
Malvolio is Shakespeare’s most memorably joyless character, a social climber who’s the sworn enemy of frivolity. Tamsin Greig is brilliant in the part. Tim McMullan is a gloriously louche Toby Belch, a middle-aged boozehound desperately clinging on to his hipster style, and Daniel Rigby as moneyed nincompoop Andrew Aguecheek has a sublime daftness and very nasty man-bun.
