Emmerdale wins Best Soap for the first time – Daily TV round-up

ITV show scores a clutch of gongs at annual Inside Soap awards.

'Emmerdale' has won the Best Soap gong for the first time ever at the Inside Soap Awards.

The long-running ITV show also scored the Best Storyline award for its sensational 'killer Cameron' plot, which has kept viewers gripped for months.

Dominic Power, who plays Cameron Murray in the show, also went home with the Best Bad Boy award, while the show also scooped Outstanding Achievement for its 40th anniversary episode.

Elsewhere, 'Coronation Street's David Neilson won Best Actor for his long-standing portrayal of Roy Cropper, while 'EastEnders' star Jacqueline Jossa won Best Actress for playing alcoholic teenager Lauren Branning.

Best Bitch went to 'Strictly Come Dancing' contestant Natalie Gumede for her role of husband-beater Kirsty Soames in 'Coronation Street.

Meanwhile, Best Drama was taken home by BBC1's 'Waterloo Road'.
