New Doctors line up for Who role – Daily TV round-up

Following the news of Matt Smith's departure from 'Doctor Who', rumours are now clogging the web with who is most likely to replace him.

Secret talks are said to be currently underway to find the 12th Time Lord to pilot the Tardis.

Coming forward as a likely candidate, and the odds-on favourite among several bookmakers, is Rory Kinnear, actor son of the late Roy Kinnear who has an esteemed theatre career and has appeared in the likes of 'Waking The Dead', 'Women In Love' and 'Black Mirror' on TV.

The 35-year-old actor also plays chief of staff Bill Tanner in the Bond series, having appeared in 'Quantum of Solace' and 'Skyfall'.

He's currently looking at odds of 3-1.

His fellow 'Skyfall' actor Ben Whishaw is also being mooted, though with his burgeoning film career he sounds like a less likely option.

But Kinnear may have to fend off competition from Ben Daniels, the 48-year-old star of 'Merlin' and 'Law & Order UK', who is also said to be among the front-runners.

Among the other actors getting themselves odds at the bookies are Chiwetel Ejiofor, 'Homeland's David Harewood, Russell Tovey, 'Game of Thrones' star Harry Lloyd, Paterson Joseph and 'Being Human's Damien Molony.

Meanwhile, actor Stephen Mangan caused some kerfufflle on Twitter after he posted a picture of himself in a long Who-esque scarf over the weekend.

A number of females are also being suggested, including former 'Who' star Billie Piper and Olivia Coleman, who strangely has longer odds than the likes of Helen Mirren and Tilda Swinton. [The Sun/Daily Mirror/Digital Spy]

Meanwhile, last year's winner Leanne Mitchell, who released her album last week, has said she hasn't heard from her former mentor Tom Jones in six months. “Last time I spoke to him was in November and he wanted to know what I’m up to.
