Alien 5 Won’t Encroach On Prometheus 2, Says Blomkamp

‘Alien 5′ director Neill Blomkamp has revealed that his vision for a new ‘Alien’ movie won’t interfere with ‘Prometheus 2′s′ story.

Speaking recently to Empire, the ‘Chappie’ director describes his take on the franchise and that it won’t “tread on the toes” of Ridley Scott’s ‘Prometheus′ sequel.

Intriguingly, Blomkamp teases with a minor, yet mutual alteration he has made. ”I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit,” he shares. “One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make.”

With ‘Alien 5′ still in its very early stages and no one knowing any exact plot details (other than the director, of course), it’s easy to speculate over what this tweak could be — is it something Peter Weyland-related? Is it someone’s actions that will be erased? Or will it have something to do with that tacked-on xenomorph scene right at the end?

The prospect of a sequel to Scott’s 2012 ‘Prometheus’ is certainly a mouthwatering one. ‘Prometheus’ proved to be a hugely divisive movie when it was released, but it did address some of the bigger questions in the ‘Alien’ universe, but also posed many more questions we need answering.

Sigourney Weaver is already on board for Blomkamp’s ‘Alien 5′, which is a story that, according to the South African, will follow on from ‘Aliens’ — James Cameron’s 1986 sequel.

Question marks still surround the rest of the cast, even though Michael Biehn had allegedly signed up, his confirmation turned out to have been faked, so there’s still plenty more to be unveiled for ‘Alien 5′ over the course of 2015.
