Although Christoph Waltz is rumoured to appear as a classic Bond villain in ‘Bond 24’ it looks as though Andrew Scott may have also nabbed a villainous role.

According to The Mirror, 38-year-old Irish actor Andrew Scott is up for a villainous role in ‘Bond 24’ – the latest film in the James Bond franchise.

“Sherlock star Andrew Scott, who plays the TV detective’s nemesis Moriarty, is set to appear in the new James Bond movie as a villain,” they claim. “The Irish actor, who found fame in the hit BBC show four years ago, will play another baddie in the highly anticipated 007 flick - which has the working title of Bond 24.”

Of course, we’ve already seen Christoph Waltz rumoured for a villainous role in the upcoming Bond movie… and might even bring about the return of Blofeld – the classic Bond villain who we haven’t seen since ‘Never Say Never Again’.

But could Andrew Scott support him in a villainous henchman role? Or will he snatch the title of Bond villain from under his nose?

I can’t help thinking that perhaps Andrew Scott’s rumoured casting is more like wishful thinking. Although, his performance in ‘Sherlock’ could certainly put him up there as a front runner for the role of Bond villain.

“Andrew was hand-picked for a role in the new Bond movie after film bosses loved his star turn in ‘Sherlock,” claims The Mirror’s source. And I can certainly believe that.

But that’s not all – it looks as though we also have another contender for Bond girl in the form of Monica Belluci.

“Expected to return are Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q and Naomie Harris as Miss Moneypenny,” said Deadline Hollywood. “I’ve also heard that Monica Bellucci may be in the mix.”

Whether or not these interesting casting rumours pan out remains to be seen… but with an official announcement coming this Thursday, it won’t be long before we find out. But could Andrew Scott appear as a Bond villain? I certainly hope so.

‘Bond 24’ heads to cinemas on 23 October 2015.
