Benedict Cumberbatch Talks 'Thrilling' Doctor Strange Gig

Benedict Cumberbatch has spoken for the first time about being cast as Dr Stephen Strange in Marvel’s cinematic universe.

The ‘Sherlock’ star was confirmed after months of speculation last week, and now free to talk about the appointment seemed eager to do so while speaking with Hey U Guys.

Asked how he feels, Cumberbatch said: "Really excited, you know? "There’s a lot of work to be done and I’m just at the beginning so I don’t want to talk much about it, but it’s a thrilling gig to get.”

Cumberbatch was in attendance at the British Independent Film Awards when he made the comments. 

'Doctor Strange' will be directed by 'Sinister' director Scott Derrickson, who is working from the script by Joshua Oppenheimer, Jon Spaihts and Thomas Dean Donnelly.

'Doctor Strange' will tell the story of a neurological surgeon who after an accident that hinders his ability to perform surgery finds new purpose when he begins to study and master the mysteries of the occult. 

The film will be released on 28 October 2016.
