Cameraman On New Jackie Chan Movie Drowns During Filming

A cameraman working on Jackie Chan’s new action movie has drowned while filming in Hong Kong.

51-year-old Chan Kwok-hung’s boat capsized near Lantau Island, reports the South China Morning Post.

Seven other crew-members who were in the boat managed to swim the 100 feet to the shore and safety.

Chan, who was not on the boat, is filming the action-comedy ‘Skiptrace’, which also stars ‘Jackass’ frontman Johnny Knoxville.

Kwok-hung had more than 20 years of experience in the movie business, and had worked previously with Chan on ‘God of Cookery’ in 1996.

A source told the SCMP: “Industry people are raising money for his family.”

Tenky Tin Kai-man, chairman of the Movie Production Executives Association, told the South China Morning Post that Kwok-hung was well-loved by his colleagues, and that the accident has come as a shock to the production.

“We had a discussion of whether we should revamp our safety guidelines earlier this year, but this accident happened before our revamp,” he said.

The film, said to be among the most expensive ever made in China, stars Chan as a Hong Kong detective and Knoxville as an American gambler who accompanies Chan’s cop on a chase across China to try and rescue Chan’s niece, played by ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ star Fan Bing Bing.

Directing is Renny Harlin, who has helmed films like ‘Die Hard 2’ and ‘Cliffhanger’.
