Channing Tatum On Gambit Director and X-Men: Apocalypse Cameo

Channing Tatum has revealed his delight at the news of the appointment of Rupert Wyatt as director of his  'X-Men’ spin-off movie ‘Gambit’.

During a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) to promote the upcoming release of 'Magic Mike XXL’, Tatum made the comments and outright denied he’d be appearing in 2016’s 'X-Men: Apocalypse’.

“We finally found someone that I really do believe wants to make Gambit,” Tatum said of Wyatt, best known for directing successful reboot 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes’.

“it will be the second standalone character [in Fox’s 'X-Men’ series, after Wolverine]. i just really think because Gambit is not the most popular or the biggest hero, I think there’s a really unique opportunity.

"Marvel’s done a lot of great movies that have made a ridiculous amount of money, and it’s always good to figure how to change the form.”

Tatum was also asked by Reddit members about the possibility of a cameo appearance in Bryan Singer’s 'X-Men: Apocalypse’, but he categorically denied it would be happening. “No ma'am, or sir. I definitely will not,” he said.

'X-Men: Apocalypse’ will be released on 27 May, 2016 while 'Gambit’ is set to come out on 7 October, 2016.
