Dumb and Dumber To Premiere: Carrey And Daniels Rock Up In Mutt Cutts Van

Now this is how you arrive at a premiere – in a van that looks like a dog.

Indeed, Hollywood’s glitterati could learn a great deal from the way Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels pitched up for the premiere of ‘Dumb and Dumber To’, from their preferred mode of transport to their dazzling tuxedo jackets.

The pair disembarked onto the red carpet from the Mutt Cutts van, their characters Harry and Lloyd’s mobile grooming parlour from the first movie, released in 1994.

As is Carrey’s wont, he then played up to the cameras, revelling thoroughly in the attention – totally redeeming himself from that jacket in the process.

Also in attendance were the Farrelly Brothers, who returned to direct the sequel, along with co-stars Rob Riggle, ‘The Walking Dead’s Laurie Holden, Rachel Melvin and Kathleen Turner.

The movie - which we pray is as special as the first and as far from the sub-standard ‘origin story’ ‘Dumb and Dumberer’ as is humanly possible - follows hapless buffoons Harry and Lloyd as they head out on another road trip to track down Harry’s long lost daughter.

There’s even a small cameo, according to reports, from Jennifer Lawrence, playing the younger version of Kathleen Turner’s character, the mother of Harry’s child.

Carrey recently told how, thanks to the first movie, he made an enemy of Tommy Lee Jones, making the pair working together on ‘Batman Forever’ decidedly awkward.

“I was really looking forward to working with Tommy, because he’s a fantastic actor, and he still is to me. He’s amazing,” he told Howard Stern.

"But he was a little crusty. He was just a little freaked out because ‘Dumb and Dumber’ came out on the same weekend as ‘Cobb’, and ‘Cobb’ was his big swing for the fences, and it didn’t work out. And that freaked him out a bit.”

Their first meeting then went exceedingly badly.

“I walked into a restaurant the night before our big scene in the Riddler’s lair, and the maitre d’ said ‘You’re working with Tommy Lee Jones, aren’t you?’ and I said ‘yeah, I am!’, and he says ‘he’s in the back corner having dinner’. So I thought great I’ll go and say hi.

“So I went up to say Hi, and the blood drained from his face, in such a way that I realised that I had become the face of his pain.

"He got up, kind of shaking, and hugged me and said ‘I hate you. I really don’t like you’. I was like ‘Wow, OK. Well, what’s going on, man?’

"And he said ‘I cannot sanction your buffoonery’.

“

He did not want to work with me at that point. That was a hard one. To go to work the next day was pretty tough.”

You, however, can sanction all the buffoonery you wish when ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ is released nationwide on December 19.
