Eli Roth's Clown Gets Exclusive Blu-ray Release

It may not have even debuted in cinemas yet, but Eli Roth’s chilling-looking ‘Clown’ is already set for a UK Blu-ray release, courtesy of Zavvi.

The truth is that ‘Clown’ won’t be gracing the big screen over here, with its sole theatrical run taking place in Italy in 2014. And it seems like the horror movie will be in short supply, with Zavvi advertising the Blu-ray as an exclusive 500 copy run.

The film caused controversy in 2014 when the poster was banned in Italy because it was, frankly, too damned terrifying and also down to the copious splatterings of blood over the featured clown’s face.

However, the horrifying-looking film will be showing at Glasgow’s recently announced Frightfest this year, whereby ‘Clown’ will make its UK debut on 28 February.

Directed by John Watts, the film tells the disturbing tale of a father who, after finding a clown suit to entertain at his son’s birthday, discovers it has evil powers that quite literally transform its wearer into a blood-lustng killer.

The Zavvi Exclusive Blu-ray will be available to own from 2 March, so there’s not long to wait after its UK premiere, even though the nightmarish nature of the film will no doubt be better on the big screen in a packed out cinema.

Roth stars in and produces the flick, with his affiliation with grizzly horror continuing ever since his directorial debut of 2002’s ‘Cabin Fever’. His latest, ‘The Green Inferno’, is still awaiting a cinema release, having been delayed from an originally penned date in September, 2014.
