Guy Ritchie’s First Man From U.N.C.L.E. Trailer Is All Style

Director Guy Ritchie has unveiled the first look at his stylish vision for the big-screen reboot of ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’

Taken its cues from the hit US TV show from the 60s, this upcoming spy romp finds Superman himself Henry Cavill taking on the the role of Napoleon Solo, the top CIA operative played by Robert Vaughn in the original series.

He’s somewhat reluctantly teamed up with Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer in the David McCallum role), the KGB’s main man.

Together, they will work for  ’U.N.C.L.E.’, the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement and by this evidence, if opposites attract anything it’s punches to the face.

Ritchie has once again hooked up with his ‘Sherlock Holmes’ producer Lionel Wigram for the movie, setting the tone as firmly tongue-in-cheek.

The synopsis explains the action thusly:

“Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s period of the Cold War, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. centres on U.N.C.L.E. agents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin. The two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.”

Also starring Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Debicki, Alicia Vikander and Jared Harris, ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ is due out on August 14.
