Logan Lerman, Dylan O’Brien Linked To Marvel’s High School Based Spider-Man

The speculation that Marvel and Sony’s upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ reboot will be set while the character is still in high-school has led to the 23-year-old pair of Dylan O’Brien and Logan Lerman being linked to the blockbuster.

Lerman has previously made a name for himself in the ‘Percy Jackson’ films as well as exceling in ‘Noah’ and ‘Fury’ too, while O’Brien recently popped up in the surprisingly successful ‘The Maze Runner’.

Variety have reported that Sony and Marvel’s combined creative team want Peter Parker to be in high school for their adventures, and their soon-to-be released casting call will ask for actors in their early 20s to come forward.

The publication’s sources have picked out both O’Brien and Lerman as potential and viable choices for the role of Peter Parker, who has previously been played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

However, despite the fact that both of these actors have now become the front-runners for the part, don’t expect a decision to be announced imminently.

It’s believed that Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, both of whom are producing the reboot, are adamant that they’ll hire a new ‘Spider-Man’ director before they cast Parker. Which is a sensible decision, because they will want to make sure that the new Spider-Man has the best possible relationship with whoever oversees the film.

There’s even a chance that ‘Spider-Man’s’ alter-ego won’t be Peter Parker too, as the studio are discussing whether to have Miles Morales, whose father is African-American and mother is Puerto Rican, suit up as the superhero.

The fact that Lerman and O’Brien are currently being considered for the film suggests that, for the time being, the plan is to proceed with Parker though. However that could easily change during the audition process.

The rebooted ‘Spider-Man’ is set to make his debut in a forthcoming Marvel film, widely believed to be ‘Captain America: Civil War’, before he makes his debut in Sony’s ‘Spider-Man’ reboot in July, 2017.
