Is The Original Jurassic Park T-Rex In Jurassic World?

An intriguing fan theory has emerged suggesting that ‘Jurassic World’ will feature the very same Tyrannosaurus Rex from the original ‘Jurassic Park.’

While there have been grumbles about the absence of old T-Rex in the ‘Jurassic World’ trailer, director Colin Trevorrow has assured Empire that we will indeed see everyone’s favourite dino in the film (“You bet your ass you will” were his exact words).

Confirmation of this can be found at the Jurassic World viral website, presented as if a genuine tourist’s guide to Isla Nublar - complete with illustrated files on the island’s attractions, which of course include the mighty T-Rex.

We might immediately take note of the scarring around the dinosaur’s neck - and one particularly observant Imgur user has suggested this might indicate that this is indeed the original ‘Jurassic Park’ T-Rex.

As anyone who’s seen ‘Jurassic Park’ will surely remember, the grand finale saw the T-Rex suddenly go from being the greatest threat to the humans on the island to becoming their inadvertent saviour, fending off two attacking Velociraptors just when all hope seemed lost.

Making a quick meal of the first raptor, T-Rex had a bit more of a fight with the second - which crawled and clawed across her neck, before also being devoured.

Watching the final moments of the struggle closely, the position of the raptor’s claw marks certainly seem consistent with the scars on the T-Rex pictured on the ‘Jurassic World’ site.

ComicBook.com note there have been rumours that the T-Rex might prove to be a major player in ‘Jurassic World,’ possibly doing battle with the new artificial dinosaur (unofficially dubbed ‘D-Rex’) which has Chris Pratt looking so anxious in the trailer.

CB also note that paleontologists have suggested the T-Rex may have had a lifespan of around 20-30 years, making it entirely feasible that the original ‘Jurassic Park’ T-Rex could still be there in ‘Jurassic World.’

Just in case anyone’s now asking why we didn’t see the original model in either ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’ or ‘Jurassic Park III.’ bear in mind those films were set not on the original island but Isla Sorna, AKA Site B.

Whether this is the original T-Rex or not, she’ll definitely have a score to settle for her species; many fans were not best pleased when T-Rex lost the fight with Spinosaurus in ‘Jurassic Park III’…
