"I love Nebula. I fell in love with the design of Nebula. I cast the role around that design. I fell in love with Karen [Gillan] as a person, and I love the character of Nebula."

Gillan famously shaved her head to play the role of Thanos’ daughter in ‘Guardians’, so it sounds like she may have make another trip to the barbers to shoot ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’.

The director compared her role in the film to a certain enigmatic 'Star Wars' bounty hunter.

"To me, she’s the Boba Fett of the movie," Gunn adds. Boba Fett, in case you need reminding, became a fan favourite despite only appearing on screen for a short period of time.

"She’s the one that you really dig because she’s the cool one that we need to get more of. I hope to god that we get a chance to see a lot more of Nebula [in future ‘Guardians’ films]."

'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' has already been confirmed for a July 28, 2017 release date with Gunn returning to write and direct.

Little is known about the plot of the sequel yet, but Gunn has revealed that the film will introduce new characters, and it’s believed the film will deal with the secret identity of Peter “Star Lord” Quill’s real father.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' is out on Blu-ray and DVD today.
