With all of the excitement surrounding the announcement of Marvel’s upcoming third cinematic phase there was one big bit of information that seemed to slip through the cracks.

Kevin Feige has confirmed that Tom Hiddleston’s beloved yet rambunctious villain Loki will feature in both ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

Of course Loki was always likely to star in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ because at the end of ‘Thor: The Dark World’ he had been able to take the form of Odin and was able to sit on the throne of Asgard. He had also managed to convince Thor to return to Earth so that he could be with Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster.

Feige also confirmed during the announcement for Marvel’s Phase Three that Loki’s sceptre includes one of the Infinity Stones and it will be placed into the Infinity Gauntlet that will wreak havoc in ‘Avengers: Infinity Part I’ and ‘Part II’.

Whether that means that Loki himself will be involved in the film though remains to be seen. It really depends on whether he has survived ‘Thor: Ragnoark’ first. But when you consider how popular and delightfully devious Tom Hiddleston is as the character it would make perfect sense for him to pop-up at some point and cause mayhem

The third solo instalment for the Nordic God will be released on July 28, 2017, while ‘Avengers: Infinity Part 1’ will then follow just under a year later on May 4, 2018, before ‘Part 2’ hits cinemas on May 3, 2019.

It has currently been speculated ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ will feature a titanic battle on Asgard that starts after Loki frees Surtur and various other villains from custody. While Chris Hemsworth has indicated that he would like Thor to do battle with the Fire Demons, who his evil brother has previously teamed up with in the comics, at some point too.

Either way as long as Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is prominently involved, then most people will be more than happy.
