New Inside Out Trailer Is Released And It's Just Perfect

The latest trailer for ‘Inside Out’ has been released and it’s simply so contagiously joyous that I’m going to stop typing and leave you all to enjoy it immediately:

Told you. The newest look at ‘Inside Out’ finally gives us an idea of the film’s plot and main drive, and it turns out that 63-year-old Phyllis Smith is going to play an integral role.

Smith, whose only previous big screen credits have been in ‘Bad Teacher’ and ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked’, stars as Sadness, and it’s her character’s mishap that results in Riley’s emotions being torn apart.

After dislodging Riley’s core memories, Sadness and Amy Poehler’s Joy, who appears to be the lead of the terrific ensemble, are sent to long-term memory. They then have to make their way back to headquarters through this huge labyrinth so Riley can have full access to her range of emotions again.

In Sadness and Joy’s absence, Lewis Black’s Anger, Bill Hader’s Fear and Mindy Kaling’s Disgust are left in charge, and they turn Riley’s teenage years into an angst-ridden catastrophe. Just like everyone’s teenage years.

Because of ‘Inside Out’s’ unique setting there are infinite possibilities for where the film could head to. Especially since they will stumble into Imaginationland and Dream Productions along the way too, which are clearly based on an amusement park and Hollywood studio, respectively.

In fact, it’s already clear that Sadness and Joy will be confronted with wholly original cinematic trials and tribulations, as Sadness can be seen riding a cloud, the pair confront a creepy clown, and a mountain crumbles and collapses in the new clip.

All in all, ‘Inside Out’s’ latest trailer suggests that it will return Pixar to the feature film world after a two-year absence in perfect fashion. We’ll see if that’s the case when it hits UK cinemas on 24th July.
