Oculus Alternate Ending Leaves Door Open For Sequel (Exclusive)

An exclusive deleted scene from ‘Oculus’ reveals that Karen Gillan could return for a sequel, should we ever get one.

The scene which we think would have appeared as a mid-credit or end-credit coda shows the evil Lasser Glass being repaired by some unsuspecting workmen…

Watch it full above, but beware spoilers.

The nifty supernatural shocker was a surprising hit when it released earlier this year, taking nearly £30m at the global box office, so a sequel could be a very real possibility.

The film tells the story of a brother and sister haunted by the deaths of their parents while they were children. The brother Tim, played by Brenton Thwaites, was convicted of the their murders but upon his release from prison, he’s drawn back to the scene of the crime by his sister Kaylie (Karen Gillen), who’s convinced a haunted mirror – the Lasser Glass – is to blame.

Kaylie tracks down the mirror and sets out trying to prove a malevolent spirit is really to blame for their parents’ deaths, much to the grim surprise of Tim who’d much rather just leave it all behind him.

The film ends on a shocking note so we’re guessing the filmmakers may have deleted this mid or end-credit scene to make sure the impact of the final act was not diminished.

The reappearance of Karen Gillan’s character, within the mirror, does leave the door wide open for the Scottish actress to return on the other side of the glass, should the film get a sequel.

Karen Gillen as a malevolent spirit? We’d watch that.

‘Oculus’ is out on Blu-ray and DVD on 20 October… Just in time for Halloween.
