Oscar Isaac Talks 'Intense' Star Wars Memories

Having had the pleasure of filming a new ‘Star Wars’ movie, Oscar Isaac and his co-stars are now in the painful period between filming and release during which they’re asked about it at every opportunity and can never say a word.

They can however talk about their experiences with the old films and about the stringent security LucasFilm has employed to keep ‘The Force Awakens’ secrets under wraps - as Isaac has done in an interview with Shortlist Magazine.

Shortlist asked the ‘Ex Machina’ and ‘A Most Violent Year’ star whether he was a fan of the original trilogy growing up, and who his favourite character was.

"I don’t know if I had a favourite but I remember the scene where Darth Vader’s helmet comes off being really intense for me," he said. "You don’t even realise, but you see Darth Vader as your father. Its about father figures being these impenetrable figures and realising they’re just vulnerable, frail human beings."

Asked whether scripts were hand-delivered by security guards, Isaac said: “No [laughs]. There was a special room with CCTV where you read the script. It’s a wild world out there, here the hunger for even little tidbits is ravenous. But as soon as you’re in, you’re part of the world.”

Isaac is one of the three human stars (in addition to new droid BB-8) who was in the trailer released last November, implying his character is one of the film’s focal points. It was later revealed that Isaac’s X-Wing pilot is called Poe Dameron.

'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' will be released on 18 December.
