Oscars 2015: See The Tragic Moment Michael Keaton Put Away His Winner's Speech

If this is what it looks like, it’s possibly the saddest moment of the 2015 Oscars.

Standing up to applaud Eddie Redmayne beating him to the Best Actor Oscar, a snippet from the live broadcast appears to show Michael Keaton folding up his speech and popping it back in his pocket.

Gutted.

Though he was being talked up for the Best Actor award, many thought that it wasn’t wildly likely that such a relative newcomer as the young upstart Redmayne - who played Professor Stephen Hawking in biopic 'The Theory of Everything' - would take it home.

Keaton appeared to be the much safer bet, with a blazing performance in ‘Birdman’ and the added weight of dues paid to Hollywood.

But the win from young Redmayne, who appeared as shocked as Keaton was no doubt disappointed, was among the few surprises of Oscar night.

Who knows what might have been written on Keaton’s lone piece of A4, but one would like to think that he can save much of it for a future win.

In the meantime, Keaton can take solace with his Golden Globe for Best Actor, and the raft of other Oscars ‘Birdman’ won in the end.

The movie, starring Keaton as a washed-up actor on the comeback trail, won Best Picture, Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu, Best Original Screenplay for Iñárritu and his team, and Best Cinematography for Emmanuel Lubezki.

Since the Oscar win, it’s been announced that it’ll appear on 1000 more screens in the US.
