Pride And Prejudice And Zombies Gets Release Date

It may sound like an absurd idea to many, but Bur Steers’, ahem, thriftily titled ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ — a sort of re-imagining of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ — now has a confirmed release date.

With the rumours of the project floating around for some time, a US release date of 19 February, 2016 has finally been settled upon, but at present there’s no word on dates for any other countries.

It’s certainly a challenging task for the director who’s known for ‘Charlie St. Cloud’, ‘17 Again’, and ‘Igby Goes Down’, as he’s also writing the film’s screenplay.

Based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s zombie-themed tweaking of the Austen classic, the fact that the movie now has a cinema release at least allows the project some solidity, especially where the sceptics are concerned.

What’s more, there’s a respectable collection of names attached, including Disney’s ‘Cinderella’ star Lily James, ‘Game of Thrones’ regulars Lena Headey and Charles Dance, ‘Control’s’ Sam Riley, and former Dr. Who actor Matt Smith. So it seems that Steers means business when it comes to gathering the talent.

Yet it seems that the film will, unsurprisingly, be a horror-comedy of sorts, especially after reading the provided synopsis;

Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England is faced with a new challenge — an army of undead zombies.

‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ is in US cinemas on 19 February, 2016.
