Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings Revealed In Epic First Trailer

Hot on the heels of Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’, Ridley Scott is entering the biblical epic arena with his retelling of the Moses story in ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ - watch the first trailer above.

Christian “I’m Batman” Bale is Moses, while Joel Edgerton (‘The Great Gatsby’) plays his adoptive brother Ramses although he’s barely recognisable with his shaved head and heavy guyliner (see below). The film, which is an adaptation of the ‘Book of Exodus’, also stars Sigourney Weaver, Sir Ben Kingsley, and ‘Breaking Bad’ star Aaron Paul.

Here’s the official synopsis: From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (‘Gladiator’, ‘Prometheus’) comes the epic adventure ‘EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS’, the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bake) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

Ridley Scott is no stranger to swords and sandals epics, having directed the Oscar-winning ‘Gladiator’ in 2000. However his next foray into the genre, ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ was not so successful, flopping at the US box office upon its 2005 release.

It was revealed yesterday that Scott is lining up another Biblical epic after ‘Exodus’ which will focus on the Old Testament’s King David, he of Goliath-slaying fame. Currently titled ‘David’, the British director is attached as a producer, but it’s not clear whether he’ll direct too. He also has ‘Prometheus 2’ and Matt Damon sci-fi vehicle ‘The Martian’ on his upcoming slate.
