New Gone Girl Trailer Lays On The Mystery

“You’re probably the most hated man in America right now”.

No, it’s not the online backlash against Ben Affleck playing Batman, it’s the first full trailer for David Fincher’s ‘Gone Girl’.

Affleck plays Nick Dunne, the charming anti-hero accused of murdering his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike), in this adaptation of the best-selling book by Gillian Flynn.

Those familiar with the source novel will appreciate how faithful Fincher’s adaptation seems to be. From Nick’s smarmy grin, to Amy’s knicker-hiding treasure hunt, it’s all present and correct.

This new trailer (the first one was more of a teaser) gives us a proper look at Neil Patrick Harris (of ‘Doogie Houser MD' fame) as Desi Collings, Amy’s mysterious ex-boyfriend, as well as Tyler Perry as the Teflon-coated lawyer Tanner Bolt.

One person who we’ve yet to see in the trailers is model-of-the-moment Emily Ratajkowski - making her movie debut as Andie Hardy.

The trailer does a great job of keeping the book’s biggest twists under wraps while offering enough intrigue to draw newcomers in.

David Fincher, who’s no stranger to adapting noir-thrillers (he made the US version of ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’), is said to have worked with Flynn to rewrite the ending of the story.

If you’re thinking “I’ve read the book, I don’t need to see the film” then be warned - when the film comes to cinemas on 3 October, 2014, everyone will have an opinion on whether the new ending worked or not.
