Suicide Squad: Will Smith, Margot Robbie Talk Rick Flagg Void

Tom Hardy’s recent departure from ‘Suicide Squad’ means that the superhero ensemble has a rather huge void at the heart of it. Will Smith and Margot Robbie aren’t worried though.

The duo explained that this is a common occurrence while creating a movie, with Smith explaining that first and foremost they still need to “get it right.”

When Hardy’s departure was mentioned, Robbie explained to USA Today, “This happens all the time. People act like, ‘Oh my God, the movie must be ending!’ It’s just the deal with movies.”

Robbie even alluded to why Hardy might have dropped out of ‘Suicide Squad’, explaining, “It’s a pretty big undertaking” to portray a character that’s never been seen on-screen before.

While she also made sure to point out that Jared Leto will have a big job emulating Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson’s previous performances as The Joker too.

There still isn’t any firm news on who might be replacing Tom Hardy. The most recent rumour to have circulated suggests that Joel Kinnaman is being eyed for it. But after the Jake Gyllenhaal and Jon Bernthal speculation proved fruitless, it’s probably best that Warner Bros. don’t start counting their chickens just yet.
