Watch: How Insane Fast and Furious 7 Parachuting Car Stunt Was Filmed

If you thought the first clip from ‘Fast and Furious 7′ - which saw the gang driving their cars out of the back of a plane at 12,000ft - was insane wait until you see how they actually filmed it.

Watch the brand new behind-the-scenes featurette to see how they pulled it off for real above.

“We ended up dropping [the cars] at 12,000ft and the parachutes opened at about 5000ft,” explains stunt coordinator Andy Gill. In the film, it looks like Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are driving the cars, but in reality, the cars are empty.

“There’s 3 camera fliers, all with parachutes and helmet cameras,” adds flying cameraman JT Holmes.

“We’re free-falling at 130-140mph,” says second skydiver Luke Aikins, “and we have two cars [flying too], so there’s five things flying around… and a helicopter!”

Second unit director Spiro Razatos watches the whole thing from the helicopter. He closely monitors all the cameras at once to fully capture the insane stunt for the movie.

The jumps have to be precisely planned as you have cameramen leaping out of the back of the C-130 plane, right before a car is shoved out above them.

“It was one of the most exciting moments I’ve ever had in my life ever,” says Razatos.
