David Bowie's 'first' demo of 'Starman' up for auction after being forgotten in loft for almost 50 years
A tape believed to be the first ever recording of David Bowie’s song “Starman” is up for auction. Bowie can be heard telling guitarist Mick Ronson he had not finished the song as he tried to end the recording. Ronson gave it to his friend Kevin Hutchinson, an aspiring musician, to help him learn it.

Bowie's 1971 Starman demo to be auctioned
A demo recording of David Bowie's hit song Starman will be auctioned on Tuesday. The recording was made in 1971 by Bowie and his guitarist Mick Ronson. It was given by Ronson to Kevin Hutchinson, one of Ronson's friends who hoped to get into the music business.

Londoner's Diary: Angie Bowie rocks up for new David film
A rock ’n’ roll night to rival the good old days last night, as the premiere of a new documentary about David Bowie and his guitarist brought out the hedonist in guests at the May Fair Hotel. A motley crew including singer Sinitta and lawyer Nancy Dell’Olio arrived at the hotel to see Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, a film by Bowie’s former manager Jon Brewer. Ronson was the guitarist from Bowie’s Spiders from Mars era.
