Avengers: Age Of Ultron Promo Art Reveals Paul Bettany As The Vision

It’s still not a photo, or better yet footage of the latest Avenger in motion, but we would appear to have our best indication yet of how Paul Bettany will look as The Vision in next year’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’

Bettany is one of the longest-serving actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to his role as the voice of JARVIS, Tony Stark’s personal AI computer, in all three ‘Iron Man’ movies and ‘Avengers Assemble.’

However, in the upcoming Joss Whedon-directed sequel Bettany will appear in the flesh (if that’s an appropriate turn of phrase, considering his character is an android), as JARVIS gets a significant upgrade to become The Vision.

To date, the nearest we’ve come to a look at The Vision was a rear-side angle long shot in the super-sized ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ promo poster that’s long been doing the rounds online:

However, the first proper look at The Vision recently appeared at a Disney company event, and has managed to make its way onto Instagram:

While it would seem the MCU version of events will see the character as some kind of JARVIS 2.0, it will be in-keeping with the comics chronology in that The Vision is actually created by the villainous Ultron (James Spader) - himself an artificial intelligence brought into being by Tony Stark (not Hank ‘Ant-Man’ Pym as in the comics).

On this evidence, the character design seems fairly close to the comics, though with a slightly more subdued colour scheme and no giant golden collar.

Curiously, this new promo image does not feature the other two new additions to the team, Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) - the latter of whom winds up marrying The Vision in the comics.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' hits UK cinemas on 24 April 2015 - by which time we suspect we'll have had our first proper look at The Vision in motion.
