Batman Solo Movie & Suicide Squad Cameo Rumours Surface

Yesterday alleged details from David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’ leaked online, detailing the role Jared Leto’s Joker will play in the 2016 Warner Bros superhero feature.

Now Forbes writer Mark Hughes is claiming to know not just details of a possible appearance by Ben Affleck’s Batman but also the first hints toward the Caped Crusader’s first solo film since 2012’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

Hughes claims to have heard from a source that “Batman will appear in ‘Suicide Squad’, supposedly in an in-story scene, likely at the end of the film and focused on certain circumstances involving the Joker (which I won’t spoil here).”

Those circumstances formed part of yesterday’s report, but we won’t repeat them here because obviously they’re spoilers.

It’s no surprise that Warner Bros are eager to bring The Joker and Batman together as soon as they can, and this seems a logical way to do it, but what will happen when the two clash in Batman’s planned but undated solo film?

According to Hughes’ source it will be based loosely on The Dark Knight Returns, specifically “the third issue of which is a story about Batman facing off against an escaped Joker.” Next year’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ will also draw influence from the seminal Frank Miller tale.

It is also said that the story will include a character from that story, Ellen Yindel, who was Jim Gordon’s successor as Gotham City Police Commissioner. Let’s just say her relationship with Batman isn’t as close as Gordon’s.

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is set for release on 25 March 2016, with 'Suicide Squad'
