Eastenders' Ben Hardy In Talks For X-Men: Apocalypse

British actor Ben Hardy is apparently in talks for a role in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’… but who will he play in the upcoming ‘X-Men’ sequel?

After reportedly auditioning for the role of young Cyclops, the young actor was pipped to the post by fellow contender, Tye Sheridan. But now it looks as though Ben Hardy is in talks for another key ‘X-Men’ role.

At least Peter Beale’s departure from Albert Square is starting to make a bit more sense…

According to The Wrap, the 24-year-old actor is in the midst of negotiations for a ‘key role’ in the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.

“‘EastEnders’ star Ben Hardy is in talks for a key, as-yet-undisclosed role in Bryan Singer‘s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’,” they revealed. “Hardy was among those who tested to play Cyclops, though the role ultimately went to Sheridan. Hardy was then rumored to be up for the role of Angel, though insiders say he has been cast in another important role that is being kept under wraps.”

Of course, given the continuity of the ‘X-Men’ franchise so far, Warren Worthing III (aka Angel) may not even have been born at the time of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. But with the timeline being 'reset' in 'Days of Future Past', could this mean bigger changes than we first thought?

Obviously, Angel played an enormously important role in the events of 'X-Men: The Last Stand'... but since those events never happened, it's possible that we could see a very different kind of Angel in future 'X-Men' movies.

But is this the role Ben Hardy is up for?

Either way, it looks as though he’s a long way away from selling apples and pears.

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016.
