Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson To Sing In Disney's Moana

Have you ever found yourself wondering if Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson can sing? Well if you have then today’s your lucky day because the robust actor has signed up to portray a character ‘Moana’.

The former WWE star will play the male lead character of Maiu in Disney’s musical, which is due out on 2016. Dwayne Johnson took to his Instagram account to confirm his appearance in ‘Moana’, while also posing with ‘Big Hero 6’s’ Fred and Wasabi, and confirming that we’ll be hearing his dulcet tones.

Johnson also took this occasion to proclaim his excitement about joining the project by adding the caption, “At DISNEY STUDIOS signing contracts to play the male lead in their next big classic animated musical.”

The ‘Furious 7′ actor then teased, “Just had an amazing 2hr presentation and it’s easy to see why they’re the greatest story tellers in the world. I’m excited.” Johnson also made sure to add a barrage of hashtags with his post, which included, #BigHERO6, #WeTrulyKnowWhereWereGoing #WhenWeUnderstandWhereWereFrom #NeverForgetHome #MOANA.

‘Moana’ will tell the story of the titular 14-year-old who tries to use her navigational skills to travel to a mythical island. Johnson will portray the demi-god Maui, who joins Moana for her escapade and helps her to confront enormous sea creatures and breath-taking underworlds.

There is plenty of excitement for ‘Moana’ because Disney are returning to 2-D animation for the film, while a pot bellied pig supporting character has also been delightfully teased.

Directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, the filmmakers behind ‘Aladdin’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, and ‘The Princess and the Frog’, ‘Moana’ sounds if it could blend an old-school aesthetic with a modern voice.

We’ll see if ‘Moana’ does just that when it hits cinemas on November 23, 2016.
