First Batman v Superman Trailer: What We Know So Far

The first ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ trailer will hit the Internet and cinemas very, very soon. It’s one of the most anticipated movies in recent memory, bringing together two of cinemas most popular superheroes for the very first time, so anticipation levels for the trailer are unsurprisingly sky high.

But when will we see the trailer and what will it contain? Let’s find out.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer length

The BBFC has revealed that the first trailer for ‘Batman v Superman’ will be 2m 6s long - that’s 126 seconds in total – and comes with a 12A rating.

The trailer’s release date must be imminent if the British Board of Film Classification has already rated it, but when will it arrive?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer release date

The first full ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ trailer will arrive on Monday 20 April. Director Zack Snyder confirmed the release date on Twitter, when he also shared a short teaser video which you can watch below.

As you can see, there’s an opportunity for US fans to watch the first trailer at select IMAX cinemas, but we don’t think that activity is being replicated in here in the UK.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer Teaser?

Director Zack Snyder is rumoured to releasing a 5 second teaser for the trailer on Thursday 16 April, ahead of the full trailer’s launch.

This has been timed to coincide with the new  ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ trailer that is also expected to arrive tomorrow. Read more about the new ‘Star Wars 7’ trailer here.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer description

The first footage from ‘Batman v Superman’ premiered at San Diego Comic Con in 2014. The moody teaser showed Superman and Batman facing off on in the rain on the roof of a building, and was greeted with rapturous applause from the assembled crowd. That footage has never appeared online, but we expect it’ll appear in some form in the first trailer.

There are a number of descriptions online from people who say they’ve seen the first trailer. One, from December 2014, says it opens in the ruins of Metropolis suggesting ‘BvS’ will be very closely linked with the events of ‘Man of Steel’.

Ben Affleck narrates over footage of Batman in costume as well as Henry Cavill’s Superman, saying something along the lines of “the world has changed with the arrival of the Kryptonians.” He asks whether Superman has come here to save us or destroy us (reasonable after the events of ‘Man of Steel’) before he ends with “I’m going to find out.”

A more recent description follows the same tack, but says the updated trailer (the one coming to cinemas soon) includes shots of other members of the Justice League including Jason Momoa’s Aquaman (in costume), Ezra Miller’s Flash, and Ray Fisher’s Cyborg.

Batman v Superman trailer leak

The burning question everyone wants to know is whether the trailer has leaked - or is likely to leak – before its official online release.

Right now, the trailer hasn’t leaked.

However, expectation levels are getting crazier by the day, so we expect online ne’er-do-wells to do everything in their power to leak the trailer ahead of its official release.
