Lee Pace Wants To Return In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

It looks as though ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ villain Lee Pace is keen to return… but after Ronan’s death, that might be a bit of a problem…

During an interview with IGN, the 35-year-old ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor admitted that he’s keen to return in the upcoming sequel… even after he met a rather sticky end.

“I love the character,” he explained. “I’d love to play him again! Who knows!?!”

Of course, Ronan the Accuser was eventually vanquished at the end of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ after a rather terrifying attack on the Nova home world of Xandar. But while the galaxy may have trembled in fear at his mere presence, it looks as though Pace had the time of his life.

“I loved that film,” he said. “I was so proud to be a part of that whole fun moment. I found the character very, very interesting, exceptionally, and in playing him — this kind of charismatic space terrorist. The idea is fascinating. I had to kind of crack the way the character thought. For me, I think he’s doing what’s right for his people. He’s going to right a wrong. He’s annihilating the weak in favor of the strong. That’s a different set of values, and he’s fighting for them.”

But will Pace get the chance to return as Ronan?

I get the feeling that it’s incredibly unlikely after Peter Quill and pals utterly obliterated him with the power of the Infinity Stone. But Pace isn’t averse to picking up an entirely different role if it means returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“The one thing about this year is I’ve gotten the opportunity to play some true characters,” he said. ”Very, very far from myself — and I love it. I really enjoyed that. I found it creative and fun to put on a mask and transform and be big — big characters.”

“Thranduil [in ‘The Hobbit’] was kind of a broad character,” he added. “I really enjoyed that. I found it really fun. So within the Marvel Universe there’s lots of characters. It’s different than Joe MacMillan [AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire]. The work is kind of reveal yourself. In those roles, the work is to put on a mask, have fun.”

‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ heads to cinemas on 5 May 2017.
