Robert Downey Jr.'s 'Big' Avengers Announcement Was a Bit Disappointing

If you weren’t already excited about ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, it looks as though there’s a huge announcement on its way… at least, according to Robert Downey Jr.

Appearing on Twitter, the 50-year-old Iron Man teased a big reveal that’s coming later today. But what exactly is it?

“Big #Avengers announcement tmw on [Good Morning America],” he said. “Here’s a clue for the puzzle-inclined. #unscramblintime”

Of course, Downey has previously hinted at big announcements… only to announce a competition for viewers to attend the ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ premiere. But could there be a bit more to it this time?

Over the last year, we’ve seen Downey’s involvement in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe cast into doubt… and many have speculated that he may soon retire from the Iron Man suit.

But is this the big announcement we can all expect?

Along with Downey’s tweet, there were some equally cryptic images from the likes of Jimmy Kimmel and Good Morning America… each reiterating the big news to come.

“See if you can unscramble the below clue,” said the folks at Good Morning America. “And tune in to @GMA tomorrow for an #Avengers announcement.”

Of course, ‘Avengers’ fans will instantly recognise the three images included with all these tweets – the first from Robert Downey Jr. is a close-up of Iron Man’s shoulder from the all-new character poster.

And the images from Jimmy Kimmel and Good Morning America? You guessed it… also from the recently released character posters – this time featuring close-ups of Hawkeye and Captain America.

Could we get another shred of news from the upcoming ‘Captain America: Civil War’ or is this something else entirely? For now, we’ll have to wait and see… and ‘Avengers’ fans are likely on the edge of their seats.

Update: It looks as though Downey's 'big' reveal has just been unveiled... and it's not quite as mind-blowing as we all hoped.

That's right - The Avengers will be appearing live with Jimmy Kimmel on 13 April and on Good Morning America on 24 April. So there's that...

Presumably the Marvel heroes won't be in costume... and the talk is likely focussed on the impending release of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. Let's just hope they have something interesting to say.
