Star Wars: Episode VII: Millennium Falcon Video Reveals Hidden Batman Tribute

The tit-for-tat love-in between the makers of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ and ‘Batman v Superman’ has reached incredible new heights thanks to a brand new video released by JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot.

That’s right, not only is this our first official look at the real Millennium Falcon prop used in the film, but it also reveals a tiny model of the Batmobile has been hidden on the surface of the ship. You’ll probably never be able to see it on screen in ‘Episode VII’ but just knowing it’s there is such a cool touch.

We documented the amazing link between the two hotly anticipated films here earlier this week, but we never realized the exchange of complimentary tributes between the two films would escalate to such incredible levels so quickly.

The most recent post from Zack Snyder, which prompted this latest exchange, was this photo of a Stormtrooper being arrested for stealing the new Batmobile, so the game had definitely been raised.

We’ve also seen photos of ‘Star Wars 7’ star John Boyega dressed as Batman, and one of Henry Cavill dressed as a Jedi wielding a lightsaber, so where next for this love-in?

Batman riding a bantha would suffice Zack, the ball is in your court.

Of course, this isn’t the first time filmmakers have paid tribute to other films in production. In 1977, Steven Spielberg included a tiny model R2-D2 on the UFO mothership in ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ as a reference to his close friend George Lucas who was producing the first ‘Star Wars’ film at the same time.

JJ Abrams is also no stranger to including hidden nods in his films. Both ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ featured blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearances from R2-D2.

One of our favourites though came in ‘Predator 2’, when a xenomorph skull can be spotted in the Predator ship, predating the ‘Alien vs Predator’ crossover films by many years.

We’ll get a much better look at the Millennium Falcon when ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ comes to cinemas on 18 December, 2015 and a closer look at the real Batmobile when ‘Batman v Superman’ is released in 2016.
