Terminator Genisys First Look And Plot Twist Revealed

Entertainment Weekly has given us our first look at ‘Terminator Genisys’ on the two covers of the November issue.

One shows ‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor astride a motorbike, with Jai Courtney (Kyle Reese) riding shotgun behind her, wielding a firearm.

The other shows ‘Doctor Who’ actor Matt Smith alongside Jason Clarke (John Connor) both wearing body armour, stern expressions, and huge futuristic weapons. But shouldn’t they more worried about the Terminator endoskeleton looming behind them?

Check them both out below.

Very little is known about the character Matt Smith will play, but we can guess from his clobber that he’s part of John Connor’s “future” timeline rather than Sarah Connor’s “past”.

The feature (which you can read here) also gives us a bit more info about the secretive plot of the fifth film in the series, explaining that there will be time travel elements as had been long suspected.

'Genisys' will be set in 2029 during the “Future War” with the band of human rebels, led by John Connor, currently enjoying the upper hand in the long-running war against the machines.

Connor sends his trusted lieutenant Kyle Reese back to 1984 to save his mother’s life - and by proxy his own - but, according to EW, “what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to return to the franchise, after sitting out the fourth film ‘Terminator Salvation’, but this time round in a twist on the established timeline, he’s playing an aged Terminator who raised Sarah Connor since age 9 after she was orphaned by other killer robots.

She even calls the grey-haired robot “Pops”. Bless.

'Terminator Genisys' is coming to cinemas in July 2015.
