Ben Affleck Appears On Set For Suicide Squad

After plenty of rumours, it seems that Batman may appear in ‘Suicide Squad’ after all… as Ben Affleck arrives on set in Toronto.

Snapped by a local fan as he headed to the set of the upcoming DC movie, Ben Affleck is apparently on set for David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’ movie.

But does this mean we’ll see Batman on set?

It’s been rumoured for some time that Batman could make an appearance in the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ movie… and it’s likely that a cameo may involve Jared Leto as The Joker. But it could be a bit more than that.

In fact, one popular rumour suggests that Amanda Waller – the government official who sets up the Suicide Squad – is obsessed with the Dark Knight. Determined to find out his identity, she uses her newly-formed Squad to hunt down the man who knows him better than anyone else – his old nemesis, The Joker.

But while the Suicide Squad are forced to break him out of prison, it seems that Batman may not be too pleased about his archenemy’s most recent jailbreak.

Unfortunately, none of this has been confirmed… at least, for the time being.

But with Ben Affleck appearing on set in Toronto, it seems that an appearance from Batman is all-but confirmed. Exactly how he fits into the movie is another matter entirely.

If you ask me, there are a number of possibilities.

The most obvious is that Ben Affleck is there to appear as Batman. We’ll see him taking on the Suicide Squad, maybe even getting in the way of their little jailbreak attempt when they finally try to spring The Joker. It would certainly be a huge draw for DC fans, and would help tie ‘Suicide Squad’ to the rest of the DC universe for those not-so familiar with the comics.

On the other hand, perhaps he will appear in a brief cameo. We’re certainly accustomed to getting those brief, post-credit stings… and it may well provide a nice moment for the real die-hard comic book movies fans.

Or perhaps Ben Affleck will appear in his Bruce Wayne guise – advising Amanda Waller in some capacity, while secretly keeping tabs on what’s going on.

Of course, as a massive comic book fan himself, Ben Affleck could be merely visiting the set in order to get a closer look at some of his favourite villains. After all, he’s connected enough to call in a few favours.

But I can’t help thinking it’s far more likely that he’s in the movie.

Will we hear his Batman voice once more? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Suicide Squad’ heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
