Deadpool Will Not Feature Daniel Cudmore As Colossus

Although Colossus will reportedly return in the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ movie, it looks as though Daniel Cudmore won’t be reprising his role.

He may have played the metal-skinned mutant in ‘X2’, ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ and ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, but it looks as though Daniel Cudmore won’t be returning as Colossus.

But who will end up taking the role in ‘Deadpool’?

According to Daniel Cudmore himself, it looks as though he won’t be suiting up for the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ movie.

“Thanks everyone for all the support for me 2 reprise the role of #Colossus in #Deadpool but unfortunately it won’t be happening for me,” he said via Twitter. “I’ve had a blast playing such an awesome character over the years! #Deadpool will be kick-ass with #TimMiller and @VancityReynolds #BestFans”

Of course, this seemingly stamps out rumours that Cudmore would return in the ‘Deadpool’ movie. But that doesn’t mean that Colussus will be sitting this one out. Instead, it looks like everyone’s favourite metallic mutant will be getting a recast. That is, if he does appear in the movie at all.

But who will be playing him?

For the time being, we have no idea… and with recent casting calls going public, Colossus seems to be notably absent. What does this mean for the ‘Deadpool’ movie? Well, it seems there are two possibilities.

The first, is that Colossus won’t in fact appear in the ‘Deadpool’ solo film. Although it’s already been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Colossus will be in the movie, it’s still just a rumour at this stage. Could they actually have gotten it wrong?

It’s certainly possible… but there’s also another possibility.

Given that Colossus failed to appear in the recent casting call, it could also be the case that Fox has already bagged an actor… or at least, has somebody in mind.

Who that is remains to be seen. But I get the feeling we’ll find out soon enough.

‘Deadpool’ heads to cinemas on 12 February 2016.
