Jai Courtney Discusses Suicide Squad Costume

It looks as though Captain Boomerang’s costume probably won’t be faithful to the comic books, as Jai Courtney reveals that his suit is still in development.

During an interview with IGN, the 29-year-old ‘Suicide Squad’ star revealed he’s already been in for a costume fitting… but it isn’t quite finished yet.

“I’ve had a few fittings,” he teased, “but the costume is in development as we speak.”

Jai Courtney is set to take the role of Captain Boomerang – an Australian superhero who uses high-tech boomerangs to take down his foes. Of course, the comic book version might be too garish for the big screen… and with a bright blue costume emblazoned with boomerang logos he’s not exactly the most subtle of villains.

“It’s not going to look like anything that’s been done before,” said Courtney. “I think this whole world will look a lot different than anything else.”

Of course, since ‘Suicide Squad’ is going to sit within DC’s rapidly expanding cinematic universe, most fans are expecting something more in line with ‘Man of Steel’ on the grittier end of comic book movies.

And it sounds as though Captain Boomerang’s costume is going to reflect that.

But what about the rest of the squad?

We already know that Captain boomerang will be joined by Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Rick Flagg Jr… and that’s quite an eclectic mix of costume styles – at least, going by the look of the comic books.

Quite what they’ll look like on the big screen remains a bit of a mystery… but with director David Ayer teasing shots of Jared Leto’s Joker, it might not be long before we find out.

‘Suicide Squad’ heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
