Lando Might Return In Future Star Wars Movies?

It looks as though the coolest guy in the galaxy may return to ‘Star Wars’… as Billy Dee Williams admits he thinks he’ll be back in future movies.

The 77-year-old old is most famous for the role of Lando Calrissian in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy… and for good reason. Hero of the Rebel Alliance, he helped destroy the second Death Star. And most notably, hit on Princess Leia during their visit to Bespin.

But will he return to ‘Star Wars’?

During an interview with Cinelinx, the legendary actor explained what he thought of being left out of ‘Star Wars VII’… but it seems he’s convinced that he’ll be back.

“Yeah, people were pretty upset about it,” he said. And judging from the fan campaigns to get him a role in ‘The Force Awakens’, it’s obvious that there were some strong feelings about this throughout the ‘Star Wars’ community. “But I uh… I may very well… I have a feeling I’m going to show up.”

Of course, Obi-Wan may have told Luke to trust his feelings, but in this case it might be a tad premature. After all, there’s been no hint that Billy Dee Williams has been approached by the studio… even if it is a tremendous idea.

But could there be a bit more to it than that?

“There’s nothing I can really discuss about it at this stage,” he added. “People think of me as the original cast, but I didn’t come in until the second movie. I did ‘Empire’ and then I did ‘Return of the Jedi’, but I came in after everyone else was introduced. I think they’re probably proceeding in that way.”

Of course, it sounds as though Williams might be sitting on something here – playing coy about the possibility because he knows something. Then again, there could be nothing at all to discuss.

Either way, it hasn’t stopped ‘Star Wars’ fans continuing to speculated that John Boyega’s new character Finn could be related to Lando… and might even be the former-scoundrel’s son.

Whether or not this is what happens on the big screen remains to be seen. But let’s just keep our fingers crossed that we’ll be seeing Lando again in the galaxy far, far away.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ heads to cinemas on 18 December 2015.
