Margot Robbie Confirms 10 Year Harley Quinn Deal

It looks as though Margot Robbie has signed on as Harley Quinn for the long haul… as she reveals ‘Suicide Squad’ is part of a ten-year contract.

It’s no secret that many comic book movie stars sign multi-picture deals. Just look at the likes of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson. But with ‘Suicide Squad’ slated as Harley Quinn’s only appearance to date, it seems a little odd to snap up Margot Robbie with a ten-year deal.

But could there be more to it?

During an interview with AZCentral, the 24-year-old ‘Suicide Squad’ star revealed that she’s signed a lengthy contract for the role of Harley Quinn.

“I don’t even know if I’m meant to be talking about this,” she said. “[It’s] daunting. You don’t need to have commitment issues to be frightened by the fact that you might have just signed 10 years of your life away.”

“But with her, it’s a character I don’t think would ever get boring. Ever,” she added. “So if they did ‘Suicide Squad One,’ ‘Two’ and ‘Three,’ I would be over the moon about it.”

Of course, a number of ‘Suicide Squad’ sequels are always a possibility. After all, they may not have been announced as part of Warner Bros. upcoming slate, but since it’s a relatively new property on the big screen, they may be waiting to see the response to the first film.

But could there be more to it than mere sequels?

We already know that a ‘Justice League’ movie – split into two parts – is coming in 2017 and 2019… and this could be the perfect opportunity to include Harley Quinn. But what about the rumoured Batman solo movie?

It’s no secret that Jared Leto has signed up as Batman’s nemesis, The Joker. Considering Margot Robbie’s ten-year deal, could Jared Leto have signed up with a similar contract? It’s perhaps to be expected, considering their characters’ close relationship in the comic books.

And that could mean appearances from Harley and The Joker throughout DC’s upcoming slate. Will that include a Batman solo movie? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But I’d put money on seeing them both in the ‘Justice League’ film.

‘Suicide Squad’ heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
