Peter Sohn has now been confirmed as the sole director of Pixar’s latest animated movie, ‘The Good Dinosaur’, after months of speculation.

Several weeks ago Pixar artist Peter Sohn tweeted a short video of him drawing our hero, Arlo, from their upcoming movie, whereby people began to question if he was helming after Bob Peterson stepped down. Well now it’s been confirmed that he will single-handedly helm the movie (albeit with some Pixar veterans at his side), which is due out towards the end of 2015.

It’s also been revealed that Sohn has altered the story somewhat, after the initial script came under scrutiny.

"The heart of the story remains the same," Sohn shared. "It’s always been about this young dinosaur growing up. But the world itself has changed a lot. Nature has become a character."

The change of director, tweaked script, and 18-month release delay — originally penned for May, 2014 — proved that these things do come in threes, but there’s every reason to be optimistic for this prehistoric adventure.

Pixar’s general manager and the film’s executive vice president does well to reassure fans. "It was tough on the company. Most studios would have said, ‘The movie’s fine. It’s not bad.’ And it wasn’t bad; it just wasn’t great. We wanted to have a great movie."

According to Sohn, the premise remains, but the true antagonist of the film is now nature, whereas it appeared that dinosaurs versus humans was to be the conflict in the original story.

There are many reason to be excited for ‘The Good Dinosaur’. Now there’s a director in place and a story that Pixar are happy with, maybe we will begin to see a lot more of this surfacing in the coming months.

'The Good Dinosaur is released in the UK on 27 November, 2015.
