Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens New Trailer Details

Ever since Disney treated ‘Star Wars’ fans to an 88-second teaser for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ last year, the question on everyone’s lips is when will we see the next trailer?

It looks like a new trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ will arrive this Thursday, April 16 when JJ Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy appear at the franchise’s official fan convention Star Wars Celebration to host a ‘Star Wars 7′ panel.

With that in mind, here’s everything we know so far about the next ‘Star Wars 7’ trailer.

WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

‘Star Wars 7’ trailer release date

It’s long been assumed that the first full trailer for ‘Star Wars 7’ will arrive in cinemas attached to Disney’s other big 2015 movie behemoth ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ to ensure maximum eyeballs on their product.

So, that means the trailer should arrive in UK cinemas on the 23rd of April and on the 1st of May for our American cousins.

However, as we saw with the teaser trailer, we expect Disney to release the new trailer online before it hits the cinemas to avoid dodgy shaky cam footage leaking on to the web.

The smart money for the date of the online release of the trailer is Thursday, 16th of April as that’s when director JJ Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy will appear at the ‘Star Wars Celebration’ fan convention in California to officially kick off the event.

We expect they’ll give the assembled fans the exclusive first look at the trailer before it’s officially released online. Their panel begins at 10am, which is 6pm for us here in the UK, so keep an eye out for it hitting the net then.

‘Star Wars 7’ trailer description

The first teaser gave very little away of the film’s plot, settings or characters, with none of the original trilogy’s cast appearing at all, so we’re expecting a lot from the next one.

There’s one fairly detailed “trailer description” doing the rounds online courtesy of notorious rumour-mongerers Latino Review, but until we’ve seen the finished product, we’re taking it with a huge pinch of salt.

What’s clear though is that we’re likely to see the original trilogy cast of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher as Han, Luke and Leia, and probably Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C3PO too.

The description suggests the trailer opens on a desert planet, probably the one seen in the first teaser, with a destroyed AT-AT lying on its side in the sand.

There are flashes of exotic locales, a cryptic voice over possibly from Lupita Nyong’o, glimpses of other characters including John Boyega’s Finn and Daisy Ridley’s Rey, and the powering up of a classic lightsaber.

There’s also said to be a reveal of Kylo Ren, the mysterious cloaked character from the first trailer, where we’ll get to see the man behind the cross-blade lightsaber.

Most intriguingly though is the rumoured reveal of Luke Skywalker, which suggests the Jedi’s good intentions may have taken a turn for the dark side in the 30 years following the events of ‘Return of the Jedi’.

‘Star Wars 7’ trailer leak

The burning question everyone wants to know is whether the trailer has leaked - or is likely to leak – before its official online release.

Right now, the trailer hasn’t leaked and judging by the secrecy surrounding the film and the fact that the first teaser didn’t appear online ahead of its official release on iTunes, we’d say it’s unlikely to leak this time around too.

However, expectation levels are getting crazier by the day, so we expect online ne’er-do-wells to do everything in their power to leak the trailer ahead of its official release.

Whatever happens, as soon as the next ‘Star Wars 7’ trailer is released, we’ll have it here on Yahoo Movies.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is coming to cinemas on 18 December, 2015.
