Announced via the official Star Wars Facebook Page, it looks as though the elusive trailer – revealed to be 88 seconds long by director J.J. Abrams – will appear online as well as in those thirty US cinemas.

“We are excited to announce that the first teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available online this Friday,” said the announcement. And they clarified exactly where we can see the trailer via their official Twitter account. “The Force is with you on #BlackFriday when #TheForceAwakens teaser hits @iTunesTrailers.”

Disney and Lucasfilm had previously announced that the highly-anticipated teaser would roll out across thirty cinemas in the USA only… in Regal, Cinemark and AMC cinemas. But now the trailer will also head online via iTunes Trailers, as well as being attached to every film in those particular cinemas.

But will the online version be the same trailer that fans will see in cinemas?

The short answer, is ‘yes’.

We had heard rumours that various versions of the trailer would be shown to different audiences. But it seems that Lucasfilm has confirmed that the online trailer is exactly the same as the one in theatres Friday.

But what time will the anticipated trailer hit? For now, we’re not sure… but it makes sense to appear online at a time that will reach the largest audience. And according to Slashfilm, that’s likely to be sometime mid-morning on the American West Coast.

“That will give fans in all time zones a chance to see it first in the theater, then go home and watch it again and again,” they explain. “Also, that’s the evening for Europe which will cover a nice big cross section of the globe.”

Of course, as for what the trailer will reveal…. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see. But with rumours that we’ll get a glimpse at the ‘Star Wars VII’ characters as well as a fly-by from the Millennium Falcon, it’s going to be an action-packed 88 seconds.

‘Star Wars VII’ appears in cinemas from 18 December 2015.
